New Zealand Garden Railways

Welcome to New Zealand Garden Railways (NZGR) — your home for finely detailed New Zealand railway models, designed to be enjoyed both indoors and outdoors. Our range is built for enthusiasts who value accuracy, durability, and the pleasure of running truly New Zealand–inspired models. All models are produced at 1:24 scale and operate on standard G gauge (45 mm) track, making them ideal for garden railways and large-scale layouts.

Designed by Modellers, for Modellers

Our models are developed in collaboration with respected New Zealand railway modellers and are based on original NZR drawings wherever possible. Working at 1:24 scale allows us to capture fine detail and accurate proportions without the compromises often required at smaller scales.

We use a mix of modern and traditional manufacturing techniques, including:

  • High-quality 3D printing
  • Precision laser-cut plywood and MDF
  • Real concrete details for features such as station platform edges

The result is a range of robust, highly detailed models built to last — even in outdoor environments.

Made to Order

Rather than holding large amounts of stock, NZGR operates primarily on a made-to-order basis. This allows us to keep quality high and offer a wider range of models.

Many of our 3D-printed components are produced overseas. Because of the size of garden railway models, shipping costs can be significant, so we consolidate production into monthly manufacturing runs to keep costs as low as possible for customers.

Once components arrive in New Zealand, each model is carefully assembled, painted, and decaled before being sent to you.

Typical delivery timeframe:

Orders are placed with our overseas suppliers in the first week of each month. Depending on when you place your order, please allow 4–8 weeks for delivery.
